Day 14
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
—PSALM 40:2
The “grace of God” is a phrase we toss around a lot, careless of the priceless treasure that it is. Our every hope is tied to the truth that God’s love for us is saturated, not in judgment, but in grace.
Grace is the unforgetting, rescuing love of Christ
Unforgetting, rescuing love
I want you to hear the message of God’s grace to you today. You are not forgotten. That place you’ve been stuck—that place where you’re plagued by that feeling that things are not as they should be—you are not forgotten there.
God has the POWER to rescue you
God has the DESIRE to rescue you
God WILL rescue you
God’s love is an unforgetting, rescuing kind of love.
A persistent and haunting thought during my time in the desert was this: “I am not living the life I am supposed to be living.”
Looking back, I see that this torment was one full of God’s grace. Without this sense of unease that all was not well, would I ever have woken up? The unforgetting love of Christ for me was to never let me have peace while I was outside the will of God for my life.
There was too much of the world in me to leave me at peace with God and too much of God in me to leave me at peace with the world.
He refused to let me slumber on.
And He refuses to leave you too.
If you feel like you’re tormented with a sense that all is not well—if you have this constant dread that you’re not living the life you’re supposed to live, thank God for it today. Hear it as the loving, unforgetting voice of God coming to rescue you.
I am thankful for the torment of my Saviour. I am thankful for the unforgetting, rescuing love of God.
