Missionary – Alice Vogt in Penang, Malaysia

Hi, My name is Alice Vogt, and my greetings come to you from Penang, Malaysia, where I am currently residing.  Since 2001, I have been working with an organization called Youth With a Mission, or affectionately known as YWAM.  I began at the University of the Nations, in Kona Hawaii, working with schools, mentoring students and taking them out on short term field assignments, mainly to Asia. I was able to take some training in the area of counseling too, and received much healing in my own life during that time.   Presently, I am involved with a team of people that have gathered in Penang, to pioneer two ministries in South Asia…….one is “Father’s Love” ministry and the other is “Member Care”.

Father’s Love

All seven of us on our team, at one time or another, have taken training in South Carolina, (Jack Frost with Shiloh Place Ministries) that has enabled us to encounter the Father’s healing and love more deeply in our own lives.  We believe this message and ministry is so vital to Asia.  Many children in this part of the world have been wounded by a lack of “expressed love” in their homes.  The majority have not experienced the warmth of a tender touch or heard the words, “I love you”…….ever!!  Consequently, many believers now find it impossible to relate to God as their Father and struggle to experience intimacy and his deep love for them.  We are linking arms with Shiloh Place to help, by offering seminars, schools and “encounters” that will impart the Father’s Love, here in Asia.

Member Care

Member Care is a ministry close to my heart.  It is literally, caring for the members of YWAM, to come alongside and listen, encourage, counsel and pray.  Being a missionary, away from home, often in a different culture, living “by faith”, can produce unique struggles from time to time.  Our goal is to facilitate “help” and care, healing and training for our missionaries in this region of South Asia, so that they can keep moving forward, doing what they are doing, to develop into all that God has for them.  In its most simple form, member care is passing on to others the insights and healing, we ourselves have received …..it is mentoring and multiplying.

Both of these ministries are presently in embryonic form and we are working through the planning and praying stages, to build the team and foundations, to see these ministries launched and developed.  Our heart is to see Asia “free”, walking in wholeness and fully utilizing what Christ has sacrificed for these nations.

My Passion

We serve a God of Redemption, One who can take our brokenness and misfortunes and all of our lacks and make them into something great that will glorify his Name and extend his Kingdom.   I am privileged to have been through some painful, misfortunate times.  I say “privileged” because I have experienced God’s presence in my pain, his help in my time of need.  I am one who is being restored, who knows what God can do with a “dysfunctional” life that was wounded, broken and full of fear.  It is my heart to help others in their times of need and to be here as a signpost, pointing to the Way.

Isaiah 42:5-7 have become meaningful scriptures to me.   I believe that I am demonstrating God’s righteousness, he has taken my hand and is guiding me to be a light to the nations and I will open the eyes of the blind, set the captives free and release those who sit in dark dungeons.

I so appreciate being sent from SouthSide to pursue this mission.  I value my roots back home and the relationships that in many ways are a type of anchor here for me now.  Thank you for your support and prayers.  Together we are seeing his will being done and his Kingdom, his Reign and Lordship come to Asia.
