With summer comes more time for the beach – for holidays and relaxation.  For me, summer is a time to relax a little bit more and read a lot more.  There are so many books to choose from:  fiction, cookbooks, biographies, historical books, science fiction, sports – the list is endless.

There are a lot of people that get really excited about books and especially those that are called a “Must Read.”  Book clubs advertise the “Must Read” of the summer.  Numerous internet sites are also listing the “Must Read’s” of summer 2009.  There is no shortage of reading material.

While I do really enjoy reading most anything, my number one book for this summer, my “Must Read” is my Bible.  I love the scripture in Isaiah 40:8
“The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.”

God’s word is eternal, unfailing and constant.  Only in God’s word will we find lasting solutions to our problems and needs.  You can learn how to follow God by meditating on his word.  This means spending time reading and thinking about what you have read.  It means asking yourself how you should change so you will live as God wants.  Knowing and thinking about God’s word are the first steps toward applying it to your everyday life.

So this summer – my reading will begin with God’s word.  I know I will read many other books as well, but my “Must Read” will be the Bible.  What book is on your “Must Read” list this summer?
