Missionaries - Ferdie and Dee Sim in Cambodia

Hi from Cambodia,
We're the Sim Family, Ferdie and Dee,along with our three children Shiloh, Jordan and Caleb. We have been working with YWAM (Youth with a Mission) since 1995.  We both met during our own DTS in 1994, were married in 1995 and continued working with YWAM Philippines in Baguio City for the next 7 years.  In working with YWAM whose theme is "To know God and to make Him known." our main focus has been to staff and direct Discipleship Training Schools (DTS).

Discipleship Training Schools consist of a three-month lecture period followed by a two-month outreach. The first phase of the DTS focuses first on what it means to 'know God'. Emphasis is placed on heart transformation and character development. During the outreach phase students have the opportunity to communicate what they have experienced to the people of the world. In other words "making God known". Our desire is to see strong foundations set in lives so they can then go out and make a difference in our world!

God had been speaking to the Philippines for some time about training up people who will go to the Nations.  In 2002 God spoke to our base to send out a team to Cambodia to help setup and develop a Discipleship Training School.  Our family, together with a team of Filipinos, arrived in Cambodia to set sail on a new adventure.

It is now 3 years later and we have set off on the third ever YWAM DTS known as Youth Leadership Training in Cambodia. This particular school has all Cambodian students and staff which is a thrill to see.  Ferdie continues to lead the school while mentoring the staff and other YWAM staffs with our base here. As of now YWAM UofN Cambodia has 30 plus staff working in various areas.  Some of these areas are YLT (Discipleship Training Schools), PreSchool and PreSchool teacher training, Teams, and at present we are working on developing a Children at Risk ministry.

Cambodia has a difficult past to recover from with the Pol Pot Regime in the 70's coming and destroying not only their homeland but their families, culture and so much more.  It is a land filled with hopelessness but we believe that God has a greater plan.  We feel so honored to be part of the plan to see that HOPE become a light in the lives of the people of Cambodia.  We appreciate your prayers and support.  We couldn't do what we do if it weren't for those standing with us.
