Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - From the Staff
Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 2008-12-18 10:48. Over the last weeks we’ve made the point that Christmas is a big deal. That’s why at Southside we’ve taken Advent so seriously. We talked about the Hope that the coming of Jesus Christ gave to a world in desperate need... and into lives like ours that sometimes need hope as well.

It’s December again – I think the older I get, the faster time goes by. Christmas is three weeks away and as Christmas Day comes closer we each have our “lists” of things to be done. Lists can include a variety of things that we feel we “need” to do. We all have them and they usually don’t vary too much. There are cookies to bake, gifts to purchase, parties to attend, children’s play practices and then there are the performances to go to. There are the cards to write out, decorations to put up and the list can just go on and on.

Worry. Why do we worry? What does it get us? Where does it get us? I came across a quote today that said, “Worry is wasting today’s time to clutter up tomorrow’s opportunities with yesterday’s troubles.”
I have spent an awful lot of time in my life worrying. Worrying about grades in school, job interviews and approaching deadlines. I’ve worried about bills and expenses, about my kids and my aging parents.
Over time worrying has taken up too much of my life. Lately God has really been challenging me to stop worrying and give it to Him. Some days I end up giving it back to him more times that I care to count, but it has made a real difference in how I am living my life. In my studies I came across these 4 reasons not to worry and thought I would share them.
