I read this story a few years ago in Donald Miller’s book Blue Like Jazz.  It reminds me that Easter was THE plan God had and has to rescue us from the brokenness around us and inside us.

"A long time ago I went to a concert with my friend Rebecca. Rebecca can sing better than anybody I've ever heard sing. I heard this folksinger was coming to town, and I thought she might like to see him because she was a singer too. The tickets were twenty bucks, which is a lot to pay if you're not on a date. Between songs, though, he told a story that helped me resolve some things about God. The story was about his friend who was a Navy SEAL. He told it like it was true, so I guess it was true, although it could have been a lie."

Palm Sunday should have been the happiest single day in Jesus' life.  Accompanied by his disciples, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a colt while crowds of people covered the streets ahead of him with their cloaks and with palm branches while shouting – “BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD.”  Luke 19:18-38

But Jesus knew better. He knew how fickle the crowds were; He knew that when push came to shove, He couldn't really count on the people.  He knew that when the cross went up, He would be forsaken and those around him would flee.

Mary Magnified God - Brock Adams

Brock (75x75)When I was a kid, I remember watching people burn insects with magnifying glasses on TV.  I thought it would be fun to try.  So I used to trap ants and hold them under a magnifying glass directly under the sun.  It was sure a lot of fun when it worked.

Noah Walked with God - Mike Mannes

One of the most famous men in the Bible is Noah.  In my Bible reading this week, two things really stood out to me about Noah.

Here’s a couple excerpts from Genesis 6:

”Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.  And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.  The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.  So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt…”
