God Sweats the Small Stuff

Was just reflecting again today on God's greatness.  Have you ever thought of the details of our lives?  Like, why did He make us so that we needed sleep?  I'm sure glad He did, because I love to sleep.  Why did He make us so that we needed food?  I am glad He did, because I am really looking forward to Monday when I can have some!  Why did He make us sexual?  I'm glad He did.  Why did He make us need community?

We are fearfully and wonderfully made by a great and awesome God.

"I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well."

Praying for the retreat this weekend!

If we have faith that the God of the Bible exists, then don't we owe it to ourselves.....don't we owe it to Him to get to know him and who he is with all of our ability? Instead of settling for an incomplete, even jagged understanding which severely colours our image of him? Not knowing who God truly is or who we are in Christ allows the world, the flesh and the devil to reek havoc on our lives...for as long as we allow it.

It's so mind boggling to me that our God, the creator of all that is - just happens to be Holy. He is perfect and good in every way. And he is Love. Every thing that we could possibly crave at the core of our being - He is.

He creates what is, and through his patience allows this existence as we know it; to love us, to draw us so that we reach in faith for him as he identifies a people to move forward with into future worlds of his creation.

Unbelievable, amazing and overwhelming. This journey, in this realm, by faith, never ceases to amaze me. God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - I Praise You! Your plans, your ways and your thoughts are so high above me.

I was reminded today that just as Abram built altars along his journey, we should also be praying, worshiping, and thanking God as we go through individual circumstances and through life. We shouldn't just wait until we are delivered through struggles, we should be thanking God every step of the way.

6 Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7 The LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
8 From there he went on toward the hills east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD.
9 Then Abram set out and continued toward the Negev.

I find it hard sometimes to know what is God and what is me, but I feel he has told me over and over this past few weeks life is short don't waste it. It has been brought to my mind a few times lately, what is my calling, what am i here for, why do I exist? He is showing me through my reading in Luke how Jesus knew where and what he was doing. Well I don't know what tomorrow holds but I do know that I don't want to waste what ever it is God has instore for me. He has amazing plans for each and everyone of us but I know for myself I down play them at best if I even acknowledge them. Our God is great and we need to live life knowing that with him and through him we can and will do great things for his Kingdom. His Kingdom come His Will Be Done. God is Great
