It’s a dog eat dog world out there sometimes isn’t it? The survival of the fittest, every man for himself, look out for number one. These are pretty common phrases and even more common attitudes in our culture today.

As people who are called to love our neighbour and to love God with all our heart soul and strength, how should we handle these attitudes, or beliefs if you will, in our own lives?

Well I believe God’s words in the book of Colossians can help. In verse 12 it reads “Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. You must make allowance for each others faults and forgive others. And the most important piece of clothing you must wear is love. Love is what binds us together in perfect harmony.”

And in Romans 15 verse 5 God emphasizes this point again saying through the apostle Paul again “...live in complete harmony with each other-each with the attitude of Christ Jesus toward the other.”

So as we are in this world let’s be counter cultural.  Let’s have an attitude of harmony, let’s show tenderhearted mercy and compassion. It takes strength and courage to go against the flow but it’s what we are called to do. So be encouraged - we don’t have to eat another dog after all!

I like the lifestories. I am trying to start something similiar in our fellowship; perhaps a 10 minute dvd shown in the main service. Lifestories are one of the most powerful testimonies of God's transforming work in our lives. Rod
