Hi! We are Jothan, Joann, and Samantha Gaetz and we are missionaries in the Philippines. We’ve been married since December 2003, and Samantha was born December 27th, 2004. We are a part of a mission’s organization called Youth With A Mission, in Baguio City, Philippines. Joann has been a missionary to Baguio since January 1997 and I have been here since January 2003. We both love our job and feel very privileged to have this opportunity.

 Joann and I both have a passion to disciple and train young people. Our vision is to train young Asians to pioneer ministries and disciple people in places where foreigners would be ineffective or prohibited from going to.

Joann and I are the directors of the Discipleship Training School or DTS (a five to six month course usually held twice a year) and Joann also works in the kitchen and teaches performing arts to high school students.  The school consists of a three-month training period, where students learn the basics of Christianity and spend a lot of time growing in their relationship with God. The second half of the course is the outreach phase. We usually split the school into three groups who go on three separate outreaches throughout Asia. YWAM’s purpose is “to know God and make Him known”, and the DTS is the most practical way we can do this.

God is doing some amazing things in the Philippines. It is a field that is ready for harvesting, and we are so grateful God has allowed us to see and to be a part of His work in the Philippines.
