Fathers Day - Cam Hall

It’s hard to believe it’s been 16 months since my wife Alison and I became parents for the first time.  It seems like yesterday that I was still sleeping in on Saturdays and going out on the town at least one night a week!  There have been some adjustments to make, and I must admit there have been some difficult times (why didn’t anyone tell me about colic?) but clearly my life has changed for the better.  Being a father is a real privilege and, for me, Fathers Day is a big reminder of that.

I’ve realized since becoming a father myself, that being a father isn’t always easy.  For much of my life I’ve thought about the things my own Dad didn’t do for me during my childhood.  At times he fell short of my expectations and probably his own as well, but these days I think very little about the things he didn’t do.  Instead I look back and realize all of the things that my Dad did do for me.

This Sunday is a great chance for me to tell my Dad how much I appreciate and love him.  It’s an opportunity to let him know that I now see how giving, caring and thoughtful he was.  And that’s an opportunity that I don’t want to miss.

Happy Fathers Day to all of you Dads out there.  I hope you enjoy your day and know that you are appreciated!
